Valentine’s Day Survival Guide
Posted February 14, 2012
Love it or loathe it, Valentine’s Day is kind of a big deal. It’s either the day you look forward to sharing with that special person in your life, or the day you’d like to delete from the calendar, if you could. But we reckon, whether you’re prepared or not, with our help, there’s no reason why Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be a lot of fun. In fact, you could enjoy it even if you’re single!
Here’s our Valentine’s Day survival guide:
Making a meal of it
If you’re a foodie (and our research tells us that a lot of you are), we don’t think it would be possible to go that far wrong staying in and cooking on Valentine’s Day. If you’re short of inspiration, well-known Italian chef Gino D’Acampo has developed Eating Italian (£1.99), a simple app for the Windows Phone that could help you become a Valentine’s Day star in the kitchen.
The old fashioned way to say I love you…
If cookery isn’t your thing, perhaps you need to go back to basics and give your partner a classic Valentine’s Day gift of flowers. Flowers are a sign you love someone and are associated with Valentine’s Day around the world, from China to Slovenia. In the UK, they’ve been at the heart of Valentine’s Day and we spend nearly £1.3 billion a year on cards, flowers and chocolate.
If you wanted to save a bit on Valentine’s Day this year, you could always join into by Windows Phone right here, where Interflora is offering members 15% off their Valentine’s Day purchases this year. And don’t worry, you can still use their same-day delivery up to midday today!
Getting digital
Of course, some like to say it with a card, but by today it’s a bit late. Or is it? Why not download Jeego (£0.99) for Windows Phone and use it to send an e-card to your loved one. It’ll travel at the speed of light (once you’ve chosen your design).
Singletons can love Valentine’s Day too
And what if you’re single? That’s the question into insider Ian Loring (better known as blogger EatSleepLiveFilm) has attempted to answer inside into this week. He’s discovered the five films you’ll love if you’re a single guy this Valentine’s Day, or if, as he says, you’re a bloke with a very understanding other half.
Whatever Valentine’s Day has in store for you, we hope it’s a special day. And if you’re doing anything unusual, please let us know in the comments below.
