Posted May 28, 2010
Update 9th June: And the winner is…
Congratulations to Sian Meades (@SianySianySiany on Twitter), the winner of our mobile phone photo competition #snap. Her photo received the most ‘Likes’ in a public vote this week on our my kind of phone Facebook page.
Here is Sian’s winning photo on Facebook.
Sian and her lucky companion have won a week’s photo safari in Kenya at the end of this month. Her photo-expert tour guide will be giving plenty of tips about how to get the best possible photos, and hopefully we’ll see even more amazing photos when she returns. Thanks to the other 9 finalists and everyone who took part in ‘my kind of competition: #snap’.
Here’s the winning photo.

Think about your favourite mobile phone photo: a night out with mates, a cherished moment with your family, or an amazing view you captured because of the camera on your mobile.
Upload your best mobile phone and follow the 3 steps below to be in with a chance of winning a photo safari for two!
We’re looking for the best photos taken with your mobile phone. Not just any photo, but one that tells a personal story. It should look exactly as it did when you took the photo, without any editing to change how it looks.
The prize for the best entry is a photo safari for two in Kenya from 26th June to 4th July, so you’ll need to be prepared to don your safari hat and travel on those dates if you win.
- Upload your personal best mobile phone photo to a photo sharing website* with a title or caption that describes why it’s personal to you (one entry each, so choose carefully!)
- Follow us on Twitter (@mykindofphone) and Facebook (mykindofphone)
- Click the ‘Tweet to complete’ buttonbelow to post a message to Twitter, saying:
- The entry phrase “#snap @mykindofphone”
- a link to your photo
- a message describing your photo and why it’s personal to you
Here are some of the entries so far for inspiration:
What happens next?
On the 4th June our judges will review all the entries and pick their 10 favourites based on creativity of photo and caption, originality, how well it captures a personal story, composition and artistic ability. The top 10 will then be put to a public vote on Facebook from 4th June-9th June, so you’ll need your friends, family and community to support you if you make it through. One lucky winner will walk away with an incredible photography experience, but we hope everyone will have fun and be inspired, because we’ll be showcasing the best of the entries as we go. That’s it, now #snap to it! Entries must be received by midnight at the end of Thursday 3rd June (and if you already entered #groove, you are still eligible to enter, but sorry, you can’t win both).
* Flickr, Facebook or Twitpic are popular options but any will do, providing you can send a direct link and the photo is viewable by anyone. You’ll need to include this link or a short link in your tweet submission.
