Manchester Insider Social Gets 5 Stars
Posted February 6, 2012
In the lofty heights of Manchester on Thurs 2nd Feb, into by Windows Phone and into Insider Clifford from Dog Ate My Wookie set the scene for a night of film and culture.
The evening took place in the atmospheric Beehive Mill, a converted loft space with sprawling wood floors that had been transformed into a private screening area for the North West premier of Carnage starring Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster and Christoph Waltz.
The setting – a beautiful living room area featuring a fireplace, sofas and yellow tulips, all inspired by the New York style apartment in the film itself. A glamorous bar was busy serving our trademark event cocktails, dubbed the ‘Windini’. Always a big hit.
Despite the cold winter night in Manchester, our guests created the ideal warm, friendly atmosphere. Competition winners and attendees alike seemed to have a great time giving the event a real buzz.
One of the first surprises and main highlights of the night was an impromptu live performance by a troupe of talented actors of a scene from the play ‘God of Carnage’ upon which the film is based. Onlookers were amazed and amused as seemingly random guests leapt into a passionate and intense performance. Then, just when everyone was lulled back into chatting and mingling the audience were treated to a second performance, even more exciting than the first. (If you want to be at the next one make sure you join into to stay updated and win tickets for future events).
The event’s live Twitter wall was a hotbed of activity as guests shared photos and their comments on the evening as it unfolded. Highlights include:
“I just won some DVDs!!!!! A woohooo!! #intowpfilm thank you xxx”
“#intowpfilm amazing venue, great fun (Checked in at Beehive Mill).”
“Really enjoying @WindowsPhoneUK event #intoWPfilm, great atmosphere and some wonderful phones! (Pizza is tastey too!)”
Just before everyone took their seats, bags of popcorn in hand, to watch the film – four lucky Tweeters won DVD bundles courtesy of Studio Canal, who helped to make the night possible by providing the film itself.
Carnage caused laughs and gasps in equal measure as the four seemingly respectable adults become more and more unravelled with each passing scene. How does it end? Well that would be telling and no one likes spoilers, but we’ll ask you this – have you seen Nibbles?
