How do you find the newest musical talent?

If you are really into music, and we expect you are, then you’ll probably have a way of finding new tracks and the latest acts.

The great thing about music, and the times we live in, is that so many fresh new artists enter the scene each year and revolutionise the industry – again and again. It means your music collection is incredibly dynamic and keeps your ears happy.

But with so many new acts coming out each week, how do you find the good from the bad? And how do you find them before the radio does?

Well one way to find great musical talent is to take the tube. There are tonnes of great buskers on the London Underground and you might even find the next Katherine Jenkins – in fact you might find even have found her if you were visiting Leicester Square tube recently. Katherine was disguised in jeans, ripped jumper and a brown wig raising money for charity – although it wasn’t long before she was rumbled by commuters.

One way the mainstream is finding new talent is with shows like the X-Factor. And with the BBC’s alternative to the popular show coming next Spring, we’ll be seeing even more great talent coming seemingly out of no-where. In fact, The Voice – which will be hosted by Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates – will differ from other competitive music shows by hosting blind auditions – where contestants will be judged by their ability alone. We like this.

So it looks like checking out the buskers on the underground and checking out the upcoming show The Voice are good ways of exploring music. But how else can you discover?

Well, here are three simple ways with Windows Phone:

Zune – With Zune Pass you can access millions of tracks and stream to your PC, Xbox 306 and Windows Phone. So there will always be something new that you’ve never listed to before.

Spotify – The official Spotify app was recently released and it offers a great way for listening to those tracks you’ve never heard of but like the sound of after seeing them in the Facebook ticker.

Mix Radio – If you’ve got a Nokia Lumia then crack open Mix Radio to discover new music based on whatever genre you choose. You can then buy the tracks you like.
