Choices, choices… Windows Phone 7 and Twitter

Posted September 22, 2010

twitter

We’ve been having a look around for some nice Twitter apps for Windows Phone 7. Up until last week we were fairly set on Seesmic, which we’ve mentioned before, being our Twitter app of choice. However, the last week has brought us two very nice contenders to be our new Windows Phone 7 Twitter picks. Here’s a quick rundown of the three main contenders…

Seesmic

We’ve already had a look at Seesmic in our ‘7 Windows Phone 7 apps’ post, so we won’t bang on about it too much. However, it needs banging on about due to the sheer amount of networks that it ticks off, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Buzz and Foursquare. It also has a really lovely panoramic design, which works beautifully within Windows Phone 7.

Basically, Seesmic is the robust option if you want to get yourself a Twitter client like the Seesmic desktop client or Tweetdeck. However, it could be a little intimidating if you are used to a pared down interface, like the web or clients like DestroyTwitter. In that case, it might not be for you.

Twitt

Twitt 1 Twitt 2 Twitt 3

Twitt was only seen a day or two ago, but looks like a nice, clean and simple Twitter app. It includes all of the standards that you would expect in a Twitter app and uses the panoramic design quite nicely. This is a twitter client stripped bare, without any bells and whistles.

Once again, this is a new one to the game, only being shown at a press night to celebrate the release of the developer tools for Windows Phone 7 last week.

It sits somewhere between Seesmic and Twitt. It is exclusively a Twitter app, not linking into other networks, but at the same time can do more than Twitt, with the standard fair supplemented with Twitter suggestions , lists, full search and Twitter settings integrated into the app.

In addition, it is a really good looking app, seamlessly integrating both Twitter and Windows Phone 7’s design features.

In fact, I think we personally found a new favourite.

We’re sure these are only the first of many to come, with concepts and new apps coming out every day. However, at the moment, which Twitter app is your favourite?

I really hope MetroTwit come out with a Windows Phone 7 client. There is no reason for them not to, as they Wndows application is written in the right langauges for a port.

Personnaly, I would use Seesmic, most for the bunch of social networks I can manage with it.

Twitt is maybe good but too basic. The other one might be the best as Twitter-only client ;)
