Posted August 4, 2010
Bing has been around for just over a year now, and has made a massive impact on the way people search the internet on their desktops. The guys at Bing have now out-done themselves. Bing for Windows Phone 7 has been fully developed, and it looks amazing. We don’t want to beat around the bush, so let’s check out some of the things we love about Bing for Windows Phone 7.
Design

The everyday version of Bing is unique, pretty and simple, so the phone version had to keep the aesthetically pleasing design. It certainly has.
Bing on the Windows Phone 7 looks beautiful, fitting easily into the already sleek design of the phone, and adding the features such as changing background images and interesting trivia you would expect from Bing.
Intelligent Decisions

Bing is known as a ‘decision’ engine, and these screenshots really show how intelligent it is when making decisions. In fact, when you search, there’s a good chance the information provided means you won’t have to actually click on any websites.
Search weather and you are greeted with a sleek display of the local weather in your current location. Type in restaurants, and not only get results based upon your location, but also access to nearby reviews enabling you to decide with all the information you need.
For example, say you’re standing at Manchester Piccadilly and you have a ridiculous craving for pizza. Stick pizza into Bing on Windows Phone 7 and you won’t only get search results. First off, Bing will take your coordinates and given you any local pizza joints. But you’re in a new city and have no idea if the Zizi or Pizza Express is a better option than Joe’s Pizza Joint. Bing comes to the rescue by giving you reviews for each place it finds from various websites.
So once you’ve selected, how do you get there?
Maps & Navigation

Bing maps are really useful, and having them on your phone is even more useful. On your WP7 you will never get lost thanks to Bing.
So you’ve found the pizza place you want. Click on the address and Bing maps opens. From there you can get directions from your current location, zoom into street view or pitch around for more results.
Navigation is simple and effective. It is hard to get over how sleek Bing looks, so using it for navigation help shouldn’t be a problem – you’ll want to be lost.
There’s more
The coolest thing is that this isn’t an app. This is native to Windows Phone 7 and is completely integrated with the phone. For example, if someone sends you an address in an email, the phone will pick that up and turn it into a link. Click on that and you are in Bing maps. Want to do a search from any application and all you have to do is click the search button on the phone and you’re there. One step. No hassles.
To boot, we’re still scratching the surface of what Bing can do. Keep checking in for more info on Bing on Windows Phone 7. In the meantime, head over to the Bing Community to see what else is coming up for Bing.
